Bank Holiday

Bank holidays have become a bit of a luxury in recent times with so many people working through the 3 day weekend. Often those in retail, health care or the hospitality industry are hard at work to make sure that you and I can enjoy the sales, care or fantastic parties over the long weekend. I’ve worked in radio for 23 years and rarely get to enjoy a full Bank Holiday so it’s just like an ordinary working weekend for me. This one saw a 40th Birthday party in Ferndown and a wedding in Berkshire on behalf of The Live Events Group. August Bank Holiday is always really popular for events and if you’re planning an event for 2017 and if you haven’t booked your entertainment yet it’s worth thinking about it sooner rather than later so you can book … Continue reading

Happy Anniversary

Today it’s exactly a year since one of my favourite weddings of last summer. Emma and John had a relaxed all day celebration at the newly refurbished Winery at Wickham Vineyard. It was a beautiful day and the kids played giant jenga down by the vines while the adults relaxed after tucking into a Malaysian style buffet that met the high expectations of the grooms family. This morning the couple will be celebrating by opening the bottles of cava presented to them after the wedding by the team at the vineyard, not filled with fizz but messages written by their guests that day. I imagine they’ll be smiling as much as they did on that sunny Sunday last August. Happy Anniversary Mr and Mrs Ward.

Lazy Sunday

I can’t remember the last time I had a lazy Sunday morning. For the last 10 years they’ve tended to start at 6.15am as I head off to the radio station to present the breakfast show, often on about 5 hours sleep after an event the night before. So a lie in preceded by a night off is a rare treat especially as I’m heading into quite a busy period with events. A 40th in Ferndown, marriage in Maidenhead, 50th on a naval base, weddings on a beach and a huge back garden followed by another 40th and a private party spread across 2 sites in The New Forest. And that’s not including my trusted associates who are also out fulfilling other bookings on my behalf. It’s nice to be busy and if I’m already booked I am always happy … Continue reading

The Beach

I love the beach. Who doesn’t? We all have so many positive memories of good times with sand between our toes. Which is why it’s always so nice to have the opportunity to work with Beach Weddings Bournemouth and provide entertainment to couples who choose to celebrate in such a wonderful location. Last night I had the pleasure of helping Ian and Katherine celebrate 21 years of marriage with a party on the beach. They couldn’t have asked for better weather and once the perfect blue skies became dark they were filled with fireworks courtesy of the free display over the pier which happens every Friday during the summer holidays. The guest list was mixed and the playlist was varied as the host swept the floor to Van Morrison Moondance with his wife and “whip and Nae nae’d” with his … Continue reading

Beach Party

On Friday I’ll be returning to Bournemouth Beach for another event. This time it’s a renewal of vows rather than a wedding and my clients couldn’t have picked a better venue for it. The team who run the beach weddings are first class, the location is absolutely perfect, the weather forecast looks promising and because it’s a Friday in the summer holidays there will be amazing fireworks over the pier at 10pm. The advantage of working in lots of venues means you have to be on top of your game I’m really looking forward to giving Mr & Mrs Warren and all their friends a good time.
