How To Chose A Wedding First Dance Track

First dance songs are a bit of an obsession.
We know the popular posts on our instagram stories are the snapshots of titles and artists taken of our laptops with couples in the background.
Clients past and new often tell us its one of the reasons they drop by our stories every weekend, to see what other people have chosen.
For couples who are into music the first dance will help tell the story of their relationship.
A song from a festival or gig where they met or in the background on their first date, music will be part of the soundtrack to their lives together.
We have been to many weddings where music has been the theme in table plans

First Dance Song Wedding Sweepstake

In 2025 the First Dance Sweepstake became a thing, with couples inviting guests to pick songs from a big list of potentials in order to win a prize.
(If you do this make your DJ aware in advance so we can have a bit of fun with the reveal!).
More frequently this year we have been asked to provide shorter edits of tracks for couples keen to spend less time in the spotlight.
We have also been asked to produce more transitions than ever, mixing tracks from slower “stripped” versions to more fully produced versions of the same song.
One particularly effective example of this was from Lucy and Sam who selected a stripped cover version of Never Gonna Give You Up which transitioned into Rick Astley at the end of the first chorus.
By choosing a song so familiar the crowd could not resist joining in during the chorus, which was a wonderful moment.

One song in particular has opened the dance floor more than any other this year.
It would be a good assumption to say this is because it was the most played song by a UK artist on the radio the previous year.
For those less engaged with music, its prominence makes it an easy choice as the perfect song.
If you’re looking for ideas we’ve got you covered with our round up of the most popular first dance tracks from over 300 weddings we’ve partied at this year.
We’ve created a playlist to make it easy for you to listen through songs inspired by other couples.
Before we get to it here are some facts and stats from our list of the most popular first dance tracks from 2025.
