Our 2017 Wedding Season is underway with 2 very different parties at one rather fantastic venue.
We’ve been to DJ at Rooksbury Park twice in as many weeks.
This wonderful grade 2 listed building is at the end of a long sweeping drive just outside Wickham off the A32 and used to be home to a prep school but now provides facilities for conferences, outdoor events and weddings.
Our first booking to DJ a wedding at Rooksbury Park was a small party for Brett and Chloe in one of the large rooms at the back of the main hall for around 40 family and friends.
If you’re looking for somewhere intimate and stylish this room is perfect. Impressive pillars feature in the middle of the room, there is plenty of space for a bar in the adjoining room and guests can chill out in library during room turnaround.
This room looks amazing with our uplighting and upon entering for the first time the groom was blown away at the transformation.
It was nice to meet a new face with photographer Kieran Boniface who was kind enough to write some comments about his impressions of our lighting, set up and music in his blog.
The small crowd had huge amounts of energy and danced until we finished at midnight.
Our second wedding was a larger party for Sam and Sophie in the Orangery which is to the left of the main building and is the room usually used for weddings.
As Rooksbury is local we are always happy to set up the day before, provide a speaker with an ipod for the wedding breakfast and a radio microphone for use with the speeches. On this occaison the bridal party were putting the finishing touches to the room and it was nice to get a taste of the excitement and anticipation of the following day.
The Orangery is perfect if you want a band AND a DJ for the evening as there is plenty of room for both.
As we arrived the following evening the band were just setting up while the guests mingled outside and enjoyed the view.
We’re always being asked to recommend bands and if you’re looking for party covers we wouldn’t hesitate to suggest Jack Rabbit as they were slick, polished and clearly enjoy what they do.
Between us we made sure that the new Mr & Mrs Vaughan and their guests had a memorable evening and were it not for the taxis arriving at 12.30 I think they had the spirit and stamina to keep going until dawn.
Next week we’re in Bournemouth for a wedding, the week after a charity ball in Southampton and finally a wedding at the Tithe Barn in Titchfield which is another new venue for us. We’ve been looking forward to the latter for a while as the bride is the sister of a groom we DJ’d for at West Hill Park School 3 years ago and our expectations are high for an equally fun night.
2018 is filling up fast so don’t leave the DJ till last when it comes to booking your wedding entertainment.
