We’ve got the answers to the most frequently asked questions about our DJ services here.
Can we make requests?
Absolutely – it’s your party and we want you to get the kind of soundtrack you imagined.
If you’re asking guests for requests make sure you highlight any you would prefer us not to play, to save any awkwardness on the night.
We welcome a heads up if there was a particular song from the hen or stag weekend – especially if it’s a bit quirky.
On the evening we will always try and accommodate requests as long as they are not on your “do not play” list.
Do you have any videos?
We have a few reels on our Instagram but we don’t take videos of ourselves at work because we’re concentrating on getting the night right for our client.
If you want to see a video so you can see what sort of music we play just ask for an online consultation instead. We can share playlists from recent parties so you can get a feel for how we usually sound.
How long does it take to set up?
We always allow an hour to set up. With good access we can do it in 40 minutes and we’re usually gone in 25 minutes at the end of the night.
Could you make a shorter version of our first dance?
Yes, we do this as part of our service for clients.
If you haven’t booked us for your event we can produce an edit in exchange for a donation to the Hampshire And IOW Air Ambulance.
Do you work with saxophone players?
We’ve been working with saxophonists for years and have a decent contact list of local players who we are keen to recommend.
We don’t offer them as a package because its more expensive for you, as we’re VAT registered and most saxophonists are not.
What’s your cancelation policy?
We’re open to refunding deposits as soon as we have an alternative booking for your date.
If you have to postpone due to personal circumstances the deposit is transferable at no additional cost.
Do you need a break?
Usually we can manage 5 hours without a comfort break.
Can we give you a list of must play songs and tracks to avoid?
Yes. If you know what you want we can work from a playlist you’ve curated.
If you’re not into music we’ve created an app to help you sort through the most popular party tunes – it’s like “Tinder” for party music.
Whether you know what you like or not, you probably have a good idea what you won’t want to hear so these songs are really important.
However you approach it you can be guaranteed the music is always right on the night.
Do you have PAT & Public Liability Insurance?
Our DJs have both because your safety is very important to us.
As both are renewed annually so in some cases it is not always possible to provide the documentation until a few days before the event.
Why can’t we book an Essentials package more than 8 weeks before?
Our DJs earn 20% less for an Essentials package in line with performing for 20% less, so like most people, they are reluctant to commit to earning less when they know if they wait, an opportunity to earn their usual rate will come along.
Can your DJs “read the room”?
Reading the room is an essential skill for a good DJ.
This means understanding the psychology of an evening in general as well as reacting to what the audience is doing in front of them.
Long lists of tracks we cannot play can be a hinderance to achieving this so less is more when it comes to this particular area of guidance.
What will you do if the music we’ve requested isn’t working?
If you feel the music you’ve selected on the evening isn’t working just speak to your DJ.
It’s quite common for couples to overthink their music at the planning stage and our team see dozens of dance floors each year and you can trust them to know what to play.
Remember your guests are there to celebrate with you, so if you want a busy dance floor you need to be on it.
Can We Chose Which DJ We Get On The Night?
We allocate our DJs based on geography, this way we do not need to charge customers for travel.
If you’ve already worked with a member of our team before we will always try and make them available for you again.
What if something breaks?
Our team are professionals and we always make contingency plans.
The show must go on (even if it’s just with one speaker and a pre-mix played from a phone).
I have a mate/relative who DJs. Can they jump on for a bit?
Unfortunately, we are not able to accommodate this.
Replacing damaged equipment during a busy season is stressful.
Please let them know they will be made to feel very welcome if they pop over and chat to our DJ on the night.
Can you do Karaoke?
Some of our team have the facility to provide Karaoke. If you let us know at the time of booking we will make sure one of them is allocated to your event.
Do you work with bands?
We love working alongside bands and will always liaise with them to find out what they plan to play to avoid any overlaps on the night.
Do you need a supplier’s meal?
If we’re with you all day being fed would be most welcome.
But if we’re just turning up in the evening it’s not expected.
Do you post content from our party on your social media?
Yes but only with your permission because, it’s your day first and foremost.
And we always avoid posting pictures with children. There is a tick box on our e-questionnaire.
What happens if our booked DJ cannot attend?
Because we’re a team we have plenty of DJs and at peak weekends with multiple bookings we always have DJs on standby until everyone has arrived.
Our DJs have worked together for years and will always step in to help if needed.
We have an outstanding reputation to protect and will go the extra mile to make sure you won’t be let down.
Are you happy to play niche music?
We’ll play whatever you want.
If you’re tastes are outside the mainstream we usually sprinkle a few in here and there and save the majority for later in the night.
But it’s your night and if you want non-stop pop punk and emo from the start we’re happy to play it.
Where does your music come from?
All the music our team play is downloaded in advance so we don’t need to rely on wifi access to stream tracks for your party.
This means anything you want us to play needs to be available from a legally downloadable location such as Apple music.
