Portsmouth is full of historic venues.
One of our favourites is The Canteen in Old Portsmouth.
It’s located in a grade one listed military defence installation making it a rather unique place to party!
Inside or out, it creates an iconic backdrop for a wedding or special occasion and can cater for up to 80.
While we talking about catering, the food here is ALWAYS incredible!
On the morning of your party the venue usually remains open to the public.
They then close to make ready for the reception.
This is when we arrive and set up early to avoid disruption later.
Old Portsmouths Historic Venue
The Hampshire Event DJs team have performed at The Canteen many times.
Our most recent visit was to party with Liz and Rob.
They live in Wales and researched their suppliers online, discovering us via recommendations in a facebook group.
After reading our online reviews they were keen to discover more about our client portal which helps clients create playlists.
Following an online demo they knew we were exactly what they wanted.
Their ceremony was held in the nearby Square Tower.
Afterwards they walked to The Canteen in style accompanied by a Mariachi band.
The ensemble certainly turned a few heads and created many smiles!
After their first dance to Jason Mraz the guests filled the floor.
Some of the big songs of the night came from Shakira and Fuse ODG.
At the end of the evening everyone was happy except one guest.
They complained to our DJ Dan he played so many bangers they hadn’t had a chance to go to the toilet!
Liz messaged a few days after and said she was over the moon.
“Everyone was saying how good the music was”.
